History of Primary Care Joliet :
Yatin Shah, M.D., started his first practice at a location
just north of the current location in 1989. The practice was then known as
Ranch Medical. The office was very modest, but Dr. Shah was able to provide
quality health care.
Dr. Shah's expertise and experience include Internal
Medicine, Geriatric and Board Certified, and Medical Director at Sunny Hill
Nursing Home and Joliet Terrace Nursing Home. He is on staff at Provena St.
Joseph Medical Center and Silver Cross Hospital.
In 1997, Dr. Mukunda joined Ranch Medical as the work load
increased beyond the point that Dr. Shah could continue to be the sole
provider.
The current office, a 16,000 square foot building, opened
in January of 2000 and was renamed Primary Care Joliet to more accurately
reflect the one-stop shopping approach that this community clearly needed.
Subsequently, the Wilmington office opened in 2001 at which
time Dr. S. Wadowski joined the Primary Care Joliet family. Shortly thereafter,
Dr. P. Sikand, Dr. C Vera, Dr S. Shah and Dr. L. Anubrolu were added to the
growing practice. And most recently, Dr. C. LeCour joined Primary Care Joliet.
Following the opening of the Wilmington office, a third
office was opened on Joliet's West Side.
Dr. Shah, aware of the need for quality health care for
women, also added the highly valued services of Nurse Practitioners, Lucinda
Guzman and Amanda Steffen.
Other important members of the PCJ team are administrative
staff, Peggy Craig, Connie Lennox, Malia Hrubec and Kimberly Leimbech.
The current office staff has grown to over fifty which
includes Primary Care Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physical Therapy,
Licensed Nurses, Lab and X-ray Technicians, Medical Assistants, Billing,
Medical Records and Clerical.
Among the many services that are provided include, X-ray,
Diagnostic Ultrasound, EMG, EEG, Nuclear Stress Test, Echo ultrasound, Bone
Mineral Density, Nuclear Scans, 24 Hr. Holter Monitor and Lab.
Dr. Shah, recognizing the need for health care and his
commitment to the community, arranged for an Urgent Care Facility to open at
the Chicago St. location. The service provides walk-in care for urgent needs
seven days a week
Plans for the future include adding Pediatrics services in
2007.
